A portico, a colonnade when repeated, a frame element down the side of a layout, or a classical accent.

How it is madePlinth, torus, nine flutes, echinus, abacus and a stub of entablature. One gradient def serves every flute, re-mapped per flute by objectBoundingBox, with a second full-height gradient over the shaft for the overall round. The shaft has no entasis: faking the taper needs the flutes clipped to a tapering silhouette, and clip-path is not measured-safe here, so a parallel shaft was preferred over a clip that may not paint. At card size the taper would be under a pixel.
