How it is madeA 50% band with both ends cut at the SAME chisel angle, baked into the corner coordinates, since one nib held one way cannot make two different ends. A shorter second pass overlaps it and the two translucent coats stack into a stronger colour on their own, which is what going back over a word actually does. A darker lip along the bottom edge is the ink that pooled and dried last.
